He Be Fire N Ice is here!

The striking gray son of perennial Leading California sire Unusual Heat, He Be Fire N Ice has relocated to southern California.  “This year we moved He Be Fire N Ice to Ridgeley Farm for two reasons.  Many southern California breeders asked us last year for the opportunity to breed to Unusual Heat’s fastest son and Hemet is perfect for that.  Second, we could not find a better horseperson than Pat Thompson-Longtin and her team at Ridgeley Farm to take care of our broodmares and the outside mares.  During his first season we bred 27 high quality mares and with this team we hope to get to 50,” said Barbara J Ranck Perry, managing partner of Cicero Farms, who campaigned Fire throughout his career.

He Be Fire N Ice won over $330,000 in his racing career, earning two tough losses in back-to-back Grade 2s and culminating in a legitimate shot at Wise Dan in the Breeders Cup Mile in 2013.  He began his career narrowly missing breaking his Maiden in a photo finish as a 2 year old at Del Mar, and returned to Del Mar to break his maiden as a 3 year old going 6 furlongs on the main track.  After missing a full year with a tendon injury that fully recovered, He Be Fire N Ice returned and reeled off a 4 race turf winning streak, climaxing with his return to Del Mar to win the California Dreamin’ Stakes.  He followed that with a 2nd place by a half-length to G-1 winner Obviously in a furious stretch drive in the G2 Del Mar Mile (his last half mile in 45 and 2).  A month later another furious half mile rally fell a neck short of winning the G2 City of Hope Mile while earning a 2 ¾ Ragozin number (104 Beyer) and missing Wise Dan’s track and world record by .06 seconds, running 1:31.94.  Those results earned him the points to run against Wise Dan in the 2013 Breeder’s Cup Mile where he earned the 4th best Ragozin in the race.

Stakes winning and G2 placed He Be Fire N Ice, who started his stud career in 2015, is owned by Cicero Farms.  Like all breeders and owners, they want to RUN N WIN, so this year He Be Fire N Ice will stand for $2,500 Live Foal with the RUN N WIN program available to qualified mares (breeder pays when the foal wins its first race).  Help us join with Ridgeley Farm in making another great California stallion.
